Validation of Time Monitor download

This document outlines the general procedure for ensuring that a successful download is also a valid one. The reason you may need to do this is due to the fact that there are versions of Time Monitor available for download from sites outside of Piranha Designs control. Do not download Time Monitor from sites not listed in our Approved Download Sites.

Verifying the program you downloaded is easy. You just need a program that calculates a message digest of the file downloaded. You then compare that programs output to the message digest contained on the website. If the digests are the same then you have a good copy of the program. However, if they are different then the copy you have on your hard drive is not valid.

Time Monitor always displays on the Downloads page the current version of the software package and the corresponding MD5 message digest. This way you can be sure that you have a valid copy of Time Monitor. Checksums of all Time Monitor versions are located at the bottom of this page.

To download a free message digest program visit http://md5deep.sourceforge.net. We recommend this program and use it ourselves when generating checksums. Simply extract the software to the folder where you save downloaded programs. Open a command prompt ( Start > Run > cmd.exe ) and change the current directory to your downloads folder. At the command prompt type md5deep timemon-v124-win32.exe and compare the results to the MD5 checksum located on this page. The following screen gives an example on how to do this:
