[24:00] Access currently denied
Understanding why this message occurs
This document contains all the information required in order to understand why your childs account becomes temporarily locked out. It explains both the reason why this occurs as well as the solution. You should also read Time Monitor Administrator advanced settings to understand some of the terminology used here.
When you first run the Time Monitor Administrator program you will see the following screen:

When you select an account which has been temporarily locked out you will notice that the "hours:mins used today" message has change to "Access currently denied" as shown in the next screenshot:
There are two different reasons why this occurs:
1.) Your child attempted to change the computer system time but was caught by Time Monitor
If your child has either power-user or administrative privileges s/he can attempt to change the computer time. Being able to change the computer time may allow your child to log onto the computer during a time you prohibit. However, Time Monitor watches for this and locks the user out from using the computer for the remainder of the day. Time Monitor will change the hours:mins used today to 24:00 and the status will become Access currently denied.
You can verify a time change occurred by clicking on Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools and running the Windows program Event Viewer. By selecting Windows Logs - Application you can see the messages logged by Piranha Designs Time Monitor. Selecting System allows you to see the system time change message(s) in the Windows System log.
If the Time Monitor administrator security protection setting is enabled then any account currently logged on (with the exception of the Time Monitor master administrator) is locked out from the system when a system time change occurs. Instruct your child not to change the system time as Time Monitor watches for this (although we're sure some kids have to learn the hard way :-).
2.) Windows time synchronization is exceeding Time Monitor settings
During the course of the day Windows may be adjusting the computer's system clock. It does this when the internal timer is drifting out of sync or when attempting to synchronize with an Internet time server. If you have verified that your child does not have rights to change system time then this is the most likely cause.
You can use the Windows Event Viewer program to find the exact amount of time variation causing Time Monitor to lock out accounts. Use the Event Viewer program and look at the Application log for entries by Piranha Designs Time Monitor, notate the amounts indicated, and adjust the Advanced settings in the Time Monitor Administrator program accordingly. Certain computer systems may require modifying the settings as outlined in Time Monitor Advanced Settings.
In either case, to allow the user back on the computer:
- Logon using your administrator account
- If required - reset the computer system time to the correct current time
- run the Time Monitor Administrator program
- select the locked account
- edit his or her hours:mins used today field (from 24:00 to 0:00 for example).
- repeat steps 4 & 5 for each locked account
- Exit the Time Monitor Administrator program
