TIME MONITOR v1.0.8 released
June 1, 2009
Piranha Designs, LLC announced today that the latest release of the Time Monitor parental control software v1.0.8 is now available. This release builds upon the previous release by adding support for Windows Fast User Switching(FUS) technology available in Windows XP and Vista (user switching is not available on Vista Starter). According to this Microsoft XP support document: "Fast User Switching is enabled by default in Windows XP Home Edition and Professional on computers with more than 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM. However, Fast User Switching is not available on Windows XP Professional-based computers that are part of a domain network." Time Monitor also supports Fast User Switching on Windows XP Media Center. Read this Microsoft XP support document regarding Media Center video issues.
The Time Monitor program now will automatically keep track of when your kids lock the computer or perform a fast user switch. The time accumulated will stop until they unlock or switch back to their currently logged on session. This allows them to not lose computer time when a parent wants them to do a chore or some other activity. This feature is especially helpful when they are doing homework or research on the internet and a logoff would be especially undesirable since all applications would have to be closed.
The Time Monitor setup application has also been enhanced to detect in-use files during install and uninstall. This helps to ensure your system is properly configured when running the setup application. As always, before adding or removing Time Monitor, make sure you are the only person logged into the system. Otherwise the Time Monitor setup program will tell you it cannot continue and exit.
This release also includes minor bug fixes and small cosmetic changes that make the program even more stable and look better.
