"I love how Time Monitor limits my kid's computer time. I'm no longer the time cop. Thanks for making it so easy to use and so inexpensive. It really is a great product for the price."

Time Monitor v1.0.7 release

Whew! Shortly after the Time Monitor v1.0.6 release an install bug was discovered that prevented new users from actually trying the trial version software. The message displayed was that the trial version had expired. Fortunately, when the reports started flowing in we were already hard at work fixing it. After applying the fix and testing on all machines we were confident that we could release the updated version. Of course, we couldn't just let a release go without adding small functionality already in the development cycle.

A small feature was added to the install program that would automatically launch the Time Monitor Administrator program after installation had completed. Some users were confused about what to do next after the install. We make it easy and convenient by putting them right into the admin program so they can immediately begin changing account settings.

The installer also places a link to the Time Monitor Administrator program in the Windows Start menu to make it easy to find and use. That link is the only addition made to the Start menu and by default is only available to the administrator performing the install. Rest assured that the Time Monitor Administrator program performs extensive security tests to ensure that only the computer administrator(s) can run the application.

We have a few more small features planned for v1.0.8 but they won't be making their appearance for a while longer. The best part is that registered Time Monitor customers will be able to upgrade for free!

The newest release of Time Monitor

With the new website already in place we worked hard on updating Time Monitor with a few cool new features for the latest release. You can read about the latest release of Time Monitor or go to the Time Monitor Downloads to get it. We're excited about it and hope you will be too!

One new feature is the new system tray icon. The normal icon you're used to seeing is still there. However, when the amount of time remaining hits 45 minutes or less, the system tray icon will change to show an approximate amount of time remaining in 15 minute intervals. It will change again at 30 minutes and once again at 15 minutes. This provides a visual clue as to how much time remains before being logged off the computer. You can still check for the exact amount of time remaining by using the tray icon menu and going to the About dialog.

We did indeed add the safeguard feature for the gender and privilege dialog screen. The safeguard prevents the admin from accidentally changing his or her own Windows account from administrator to standard. This is just one example of how Time Monitor works with you to ensure things work the way you expect them to.

A new feature added to the setup program was ensuring that administrator accounts were automatically configured properly so that you don't have to. Although the default administrator icon shows a female with key after a new install you can easily change the icon gender to male with key. If you are upgrading to the latest release from a previous version we left the gender icon alone (although we double check that the privilege level is set appropriately). We still haven't figured out how to determine whether you are male or female during program installation without prompting you just yet! :-)
